Natural Mindfulness
Well-Being Outings
Wandering and/or sitting in nature is one of the most effortless ways to improve our health and well-being. The destinations are never important. Natural Mindfulness walks are inner journeys.
A Well-Being Natural Mindfulness Walk isn’t just a walk. It's a deep experience with nature in community with others. It is a practice. You will notice things you normally wouldn't notice and receive the benefit of a guide who will offer invitations to various experiences that will slow you down, open the senses, and get you ready to receive what the natural world has to offer you.

About the Outing: Walking can be a form of escape, a way to connect with nature as well as a catalyst for self-discovery. We will not be walking just for physical activity, but as a means of encountering the world and ourselves in a deeper, more meaning way. This in-person Philospher’s Walk is based on an offering from Healing Forest. “It is an invitation to walk, wonder, and to rediscover the art of reflection in good company, with nature as our guide.” Each of the five contemplative walks will begin with an introduction to a nature philosopher such as Henry David Thoreau, Mary Oliver and John Muir. You will then be given a life question to ponder as you walk independently around different areas of the arboretum. These questions are not the kind that demand a quick answer. You will stay with the question , write what arises, and, if you’d like, share some thoughts with the group when we gather in preparation for the next stage. For those who attended the first Philosopher's walk in September, this second walk offers the opportunity to revisit the questions pondered then and to go deeper with some new questions.
